NDE Trains 100 Youths To Drive Agric. Development In Nasarawa

The Federal Government through the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun training about 100 unemployed youths in sustainable agricultural development for wealth creation and food sufficiency.

The Acting Coordinator of NDE in Nasarawa state, Mr Rotgak Goden-Go’ar, made this known during an orientation exercise for participants of the 2021 Sustainable Agricultural Development Training Scheme (SADTS), in Lafia on Monday.

The orientation exercise was organised to acquaint the new trainees with necessary information regarding the scheme, Goden-Go’ar said.

“It is also to educate the participants on the code of conduct, the dos and don’ts while on the training as well as general counseling,” he added

The Acting Coordinator also explained that the scheme was deliberately designed to attract the youths into agricultural production using modern methods.

This, according to Goden-Go’ar, will provide more profitable farm income, promote environmental stewardship and enhance the quality of life for families.

The coordinator, however, noted that the training was in line with the Federal Government’s policy on agriculture for empowerment, wealth creation and food sufficiency.

Giving more information about the programme, he said that a total of 100 participants engaged in the first phase of the training which was scheduled to take two weeks adding that the second phase will be practical involving the establishment and maintenance of two model demonstration farms in livestock and crop production.
